Freedom Trek Expeditions is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2024 based on an idea and concept through two veteran friends in conversation.
Founding member and President Michael Reese started this journey 8 years ago based on a conversation with a fellow veteran friend while marching the Bataan Memorial Death March in the high desert in New Mexico. 26.2 miles of suffering and conversation. That veteran was a multiple Purple Heart recipient. As they were conversing they mentioned they were looking for the “what’s next”. When you live in an adrenaline fueled world, it is hard to slow down. Reese being the challenger that he is, explained that it should be, “Crossing the vast and open Grand Canyon together.” And a plan was formed.
Unfortunately, we lost the veteran before that plan could come to fruition in a terrible accident. Reese vowed to carry on the mission and self funded every expedition cresting the rim of Grand Canyon over these last 8 years. More times than he can count now. Providing camaraderie, promoting physical and mental well-being and building lasting connections while honoring Veterans, First Responders, and Gold Star Family members and their service.
Fast forward to 2024, and Freedom Trek Expeditions was founded by a team of individuals who have all experienced what the mission is about. Freedom Trek Expeditions became not just another 501(c)(3), but something to help answer with the "what's next" question.
